Money note

Prices and terms as of 26 September 2026.

# Get the whole bill in view.

Request the medicine cost and the care fees on the same written quote. Ask what changes after an introductory offer.

Keep the visit, medicine and follow-up in the same view.

A low monthly figure catches your eye. Before comparing it with another plan, ask what it includes and how long the terms last.

## A dated example shows why the terms matter

At the 26 September 2026 check, a cash offer for semaglutide (Ozempic) injection pens was $199 per monthly supply. Here, pen means a device that holds medicine for injection. Only the first two monthly supplies had that price.

New US cash-paying patients aged 18 or older could qualify at selected starting strengths.

Later monthly fills were $349 or $499, depending on strength.

The introductory terms ran through 31 December 2026.

Under this offer, patients could not ask their insurance plan to pay them back for the medicine. The cost also could not count toward the deductible: the amount paid before a plan starts sharing covered costs.

[Government price page · offer terms](https://trumprx.gov/p/ozempic)

This is a medicine-specific cash offer, not a quote for a full course of hormone care.

A medicine can have different prices when paid for in cash or through insurance.

A copay is your share of an insured bill. The maker publishes a list price; that figure can differ from your bill. Ask the service to say which price it quoted.

## Ask for the bill in parts

Assessment

What is the visit fee, and what happens to that fee if no medicine is prescribed?

Medicine

Which medicine and quantity are included? Is the drug charge separate from the care fee?

Tests

Which tests might be requested, who bills for them and who explains the results?

Ongoing care

Will later visits or messages add to this bill? What does any membership fee actually include?

Leaving the plan

When can I cancel, and what refund terms apply to money already paid?

Use the same questions for an office clinic and an online service. Keep the answers together so the comparison covers the same things.

### Ask an insurer about the exact use

Medicare’s drug benefit can cover a medicine for a medically accepted purpose such as diabetes, rather than weight loss alone.

That does not promise payment: the plan’s covered-drug list and its advance approval requirements still matter.

[Medicare · the coverage question](https://www.cms.gov/newsroom/fact-sheets/contract-year-2026-policy-and-technical-changes-medicare-advantage-program-medicare-prescription)

Ask the plan about the intended use, as well as the product name.

The covered-drug list is often called a formulary. Advance approval from the plan is often called prior authorization.

- Is this exact medicine covered for the reason my clinician has named?

- Is advance approval needed, and who sends the paperwork?

- What would I pay for visits, tests and the medicine?

## Put the later price beside the opening price

Offers for semaglutide (Ozempic and Wegovy) both had terms ending on 31 December 2026 at the September 2026 check.

[Government price page · introductory period](https://trumprx.gov/p/wegovy)

Check again when the stated terms end. The cutoff does not predict the next offer.

Request a total for a normal later month as well as the opening month. If the answer depends on tests or the medicine chosen, ask for those parts to be marked.
